Green School Committee

Wexford Educate Together NS is working together to care for our planet and to save its precious resources. Our Green School Committee is a combination of both children and staff from Wexford Educate Together NS. We have a member from each class from Junior Infants to 6th Class. Each member is on the committee for two years. Then every second year we elect a new Green Schools Committee members. New members apply to be part of the Green Schools Committee through an application process. The Committee meets once a month. In September 2015 the new committee members were elected. This years’ committee members are:

Senior Infants Amna Awadelkareem
1st class Cody Gregory
2nd class Lester O’Grady
3rd class Ruby Reynolds

Wexford Educate Together has two green flags and we are working on our third green flag. We were awarded our first green flag because we ‘reduce, re-use and recycle’ as much as possible in the school. We received our second green flag because we learned how to conserve energy in the school. Presently we are working for our third green flag by conserving as much water as possible in the school.

About our school

Multi-denominational – children of all denominations and none are equally welcome into our school. Co-educational – Educate Together schools are open to girls and boys and gender stereotyping is addressed and challenged. Child-centred – this applies not only to teaching and learning within the classroom but to all decisions at staff and management level, which must have the well-being of the children at their heart. Democratically-run – parents are viewed as a positive resource for the school. Parental involvement is welcomed and encouraged, where appropriate.
